Stanislav Aydinyan. Vision And An Embodiment In The Work Of Artist Lubov Zubova.
The name of Lubov Zubova in art appeared at once and took its rightful place among the vast diversity of all kinds of artistic talents, whose works appear and produce a great impression in the Art halls of Moscow.
Among the numerous and collective exhibitions, in which Lubov Zubova participated, especially also participated in the International festival of arts "Traditions and contemporaneity" in the Bolshoi Manege 2009, and in the fifth – of the same name festival 2011. The fruits of it are in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad – in Holland, France. Made artistic level allowed her to become a member of the Creative Union of professional artists.
At the beginning of creative way L. Zubova represented often the ancient vessels – pitchers, amphorae – in them she saw a symbol of the birth of Life. And at first, they came in her mind as images... They contained, and in the form, and in the mystery of their origin something alive, then what was ripened in them, to show to the world...Crashed, "opened up" clay sides… Pitchers fell apart, and the new spaces, filled with mystery in their primordial images appeared out of them in the sunshine ...
"Works are not invented, not even dream of, they come in broad daylight – as visions, suddenly arise in the mind, each as a solid plan, as the essence, as the main point and then enter the consciousness of the vision, come and begin to manifest themselves in living colors – it is visualization..." – says Lubov.
In the painting "Thirst of illusions" we see the sky-blue desert, pinnated-cloudy space, in the foreground, on the easel – painting and all is depicted on it more alive than in reality: rocky shore of the sea, illuminated by the rising sun... And as if from the sea, living in the picture, there are poured out and flowing from the canvas on the easel thin spurts of water... It accumulated already a little lake. And we feel that this modest flow from the canvas - unstoppable, it can quietly and calmly flowing and flowing, filling with water space until the end of the great thirst illusion... the Desert thirst illusions, illusions. And the artist brings illusions into Desert in own a man-made reality!..
There is no sea in Rybinsk, near Yaroslavl, the birthplace of the artist, but there were many million years ago – sections of the soil steep coast of the river Volga, visible output of the ancient rocks, in which the obvious fossils: ammonites, belemnites, velvet-like seashells... When-that, in prehistoric times, there walked waves of the sea... Fossils of that ancient seabed are in the collection of the artist. For a long time she could not depict the seas ships... Because the sea of her imagination is based on the visions that came from the times when there were no ships... But it should be noted, however, that in the paintings by L. Zubova, such as "Silence" appear, if not the ships, boats-moon glide, touching the water almost above the water. These boats, thin and almost intangible, resemble more fantastic creatures, than the creations of human hands. They are organically merged with the light of the picture, and with the sea, they look like surface gentle Mirage...
One of the inherent, fundamental qualities of creativity Lubov Zubova presents contemplative calm, which emanates from the most of her creations.
"Antiquity breathes from your paintings, – spectators say. – As if consciousness has moved in the centuries by the waves of Akasha Chronicles, finding images long ago dissolved in eternity...
L. Zubova feels that her soul possesses its own mysterious source in the timeless space, which knows no boundaries!.. When the artist creates on the same plane a bright, convincing world, which for her is presented by the living, her spiritual vision immediately sees, and then recreates the next one, the other world, as alive and as infinite, as the first... One space gives rise to the other equally filled space! Lubov feels - there is no end at all, there is a continuous rebirth, "transformation" of worlds into each other... In this sense it is conceptually psychological hidden basis of her work...
L. Zubova – a natural talent, and all that she had reached – she got practice. Lubov Zubova started to paint not since her childhood. Around 2003 it went vision of future paintings, but she was not able to start!.. However the fate helped! In the same year with the help of a notice in her hometown Lubov Zubova found a school-studio, which in the House of Culture "Vympel" taught and advised artists... It was a four-month course, which have served as a springboard for the further improvement of mastering a brush and the skill of drawing for Lubov Zubova. In her native town Rybinsk, where she was born in 1979, the feeling appears as a kind of diving in yourself, in your inner space. There in comparison with the capital of Moscow with sometimes joyful and festive exhibition bustle – she was waited with more than a regular life... She spends a lot of time at home – "these are the circumstances of life”.
As many talented personalities who left their trace in the history of the fine arts, she has her own pain, her cross, which she is dutifully carry on along life. The artist is doomed to the need for a permanent stay home with a sick daughter, – that is why she had not been able to settle herself down to any work. Luba started painting, when her daughter Lena was three years old. Taking up the art of self-expression, Lubov was able to show to the people their rich inner world, thus seriously realized herself and even managed to earn a living. Since 2005, mother and daughter live together in Rybinsk in a rented apartment, which simultaneously served as a workshop. Daughter Lenochka – a very creative nature draws and writes poetry on philosophical themes... She doesn't lose a hope for recovery. She studies at home and at school of distance education for good and excellent marks. She is very kind, gentle and beautiful. In the summer of 2010, Lena got up to her feet and for the first time she began to move at small distances without assistance…
... The first picture in the surrealistic style, which came vision to Lubov Zubova, she portrayed as if weightless floating on thin, very thin brittle stems lemons. But not the actual fruit of the lemon tree, but half of lemons, which look fantastic flowers. This is a kind of surreal pseudo-florid style, performed by the artist in her own, elegant and unique author's manner...
There is a number of favorite characters on her pictures which are pearls, stones, wood, water... The "Pearl secrets" in the misty sea portrays images of flowers that give birth in the air to real gems. And so, the outside water and ocean birth appears amazing mystery in the invariable Nature…
Even more difficult is the work "The dream of a pearl" (2009) – a pearl dreams that her house-sink would have a vast space, so as it could be seen to the horizon... And the dream of her in fact comes true in this difficult spatial pattern before the incarnation – the pearl itself and her dream, and the realization of this dream...
Man is not presented in many paintings of Lubov Zubova. However, there are canvas "Sandal-walkers", where along the rocky desert of a sand color not even strangers wander... but the ghosts of sandal-walkers – the artist perceives them as pilgrims antiquity, Magians-men of wisdom, who, through the daze of the desert went into other measurings to bear from there the spark of the Divine thought for people... Sandal walk-out along the eternal roads, but the ghosts stay, and we see their silhouettes, through the dim, windy wraith of the desert...
Traveling from painting to painting, from one to another motive in the work of the artist, we notice, even this is definitely expressed as clairvoyance, many of her works appear to be sealed with the mysterious, astral sleep, in spite of the fact that they are not dreams of the artist... Special direction in the creative activity of L.Zubova founded by her – its new artistic progress of the avant-garde nature of the artist who began to draw their spatial composition on a rusty iron.
If to think it over, the rusty iron is quite convincing, not less than cardboard or stone texture, capable not only firmly to carry oil and other colors, but also can aesthetically "accompany" a written born image... "Spirit of the desert", painted on the hardware, if it thematically continues the tune of "Sandal-walkers”, they seem akin to come from a single sphere of the spirit, as if being seen in the same ancient and mythical desert...
In this "iron genre" it was created another special job. It is written on a piece of rusty metal roofing. Once this rusty sheet was found near a Temple of Kazan Mother of God, which already now is being renovated near Rybinsk, in the village of Glebovo. Lubov Zubova portrayed the very temple in the summer, when tabernacle trees were growing around that abandoned building. In the foreground the rocky shore of the Volga River is seen... Oil paints on the hardware produced the exclusively elegant, realistic image. And of course it is symbolic that this painting was created on a rusty, broken piece of the roof of the temple, which the artist had brought to her home, immediately expressing intention to reflect on the hardware a slender bell tower and the Church!..
The other spatially paradox art-object, referring to the "rust-iron cycle" of the artist, is called "Bottomless abyss in a rusty bucket" and even doubly up to its name corresponds to bottomless abyss in the sea but in a bottomless rusty bucket. So it comes directly to the viewer the idea of the depth! Rusty bucket - it would seem that the object is remote from traditional forms of art, but in the avant-garde forms of such deliberately austere subject at hand, under the brush of the artist, who painted it and found exclusively aesthetic sound. She still continued to these series and even created a series of similar recommendations which have been included with garden rusty cans, pots, rusty teapots... And, paradoxically, in a series, where all the art-objects thematically – rusty buckets, there were admirers and even buyers... Some of the paintings, such as "Tide in a rusty bucket" the audience called painting in 3D" - that is, in the third dimension, so optically capacious and interesting was solved a configuration bucket, in which was optically transformed space...
The point here is that in view of the artist, the thing, which has lived peculiar life with the person, then was broken and came into disrepair, can find a new life, "reincarnated" into a work of art. This moment is ideologically important, as in this Lubov Zubova sees the creation of the iron series... "If I do an exhibition dedicated to this series, l’ll call it- "Rebirth", – says the artist.
Also to the particular work it refers her capacious work on a rusty iron under the deep name called "Immortality". Here in shades of gray – a stony desert, only in this monospace under the coolness of the sky where an off-white light appeared among the stones and a bright red flower on the slender stem suddenly was born. It sounded as a symbol of Life itself! In design – time eats up the stones, where life continues in its constant transformation, and this is the Immortality...
Lubov believes that the grey color is the biggest as for the potential lightness; it carries in itself the shades of all the spectrum of the remaining gray... If to add red color into white, it will be pink, if to add red color into grey, it will be warmer, it gets shade, but will not cease to be gray... "I love twilight very much!. – The artist says, "My elements – wind and fog." In spite of the fact that in life wind and fog are practically incompatible... Perhaps, wind and fog – various notes of a single music of Nature – in the sense of L.Zubova"...
The artist does not like to put her pictures into frames; it seems that her worlds in them are gasping for air. She uses a frame in those cases, when it interacts with the composition of the picture, not simply surrounds, but participates... For example, "Stone shadow", so it is named one of the paintings which depicts stones, as if lying on the frame. The shadow of them definitely falls on the frame, expanding the scale of paintings, adding another dimension...
Lubov Zubova possesses of her own, very individual attitude to the topic Tree. In the work "Island of elements" the trees are wrapped up with clouds instead of foliage, and trees give rise to the clouds – clouds grow on trees. This mystery motive then began to appear and on the other paintings relating to other cycles.
Out of the exclusively original works of a series we may note "Tree on a rusty iron" (2010), where a special mysticism of the image underlines the fact that the tree crowns go on straight into the roots, escaping the trunk. This is a stunner! Effect is reinforced by the fact that behind of the trunk the sun is shining and the trunk is hiding the sun. And the tree is brought archetype of a tree, for we know that under the ground dimensions of roots approximately match the size of the crown, foliage, branches... And it is recollected on this occasion the "Emerald Table” of Hermes Trismegistus – "What is on the top is like that from the bottom, and what is in the bottom is like that on the top"...
Lubov Zubova not only creates paintings on canvas with oil, not only working with a brush on the old, rusted iron, but also acts as an artist-an applied, the Creator of the small forms of art. She manufactures jewelry in fact, collects from the banks of Volga pressed by its waves roots, linden, willow, which are skillfully woven into the original idea for the necklace. She uses and semi-precious stones – lapis lazuli, amethyst, turquoise, amber, coral.
Relatively recently in 2008 L.Zubova touched the brush to the new for her genre of fine art – to the portrait. And it immediately became a very expressive, psychologically meaningful work. A very realistic and talented manner is used by her in the appearance of a talented Rybinsk artist, kind and serious man Alexander Andreev. On a dark background staring eyes of this man are so keenly and attentively watching us… All the exclusively alive is classically clear.
In another, more fantastic manner, it sounds another portrait "Lady of dreams". Her face is also very attentive and real and it rises above the clouds, hovering above them – and the clouds form the original collar. The surrounding characters – a cross on the neck, a branch with a pearl, a sickle moon by her heart – as an emotional night of hope – art hints at a complicated, tragic fate of the prototype... Portrait "Silence of a glance" is mysteriously feminine. Glance of a woman is about what to be kept silent – pointedly says the artist, – and the face of a woman on the portrait says about this...
At one of the personal exhibitions Lubov Zubova was visited by Alla Ferroni, President of the Russian-Italian Academy Ferroni, arkadskaya Academy of improvisation, who highly appreciated modern and artistic merits of creativity of the artist.
At the present time Lubov Zubova is working on her own, unique reflection of the history of the flooded town Mologa, which appeared to be at the bottom of the Rybinsk reservoir. Моloga is called "our Russian Atlantis". Lubov Zubova writes of it in her letter – "This earth forever pushed under the water speaks to me. Sometimes I can't get to sleep. Visions, as if from the depths of the dark waters attend me. Feelings are very painful". This is intuitive–depth of the artist's vision of the tragic and the legendary, thin reality...
In conclusion it should be said that sincerity and charm of works by L. Zubova give rise to attention and attraction to them. Stylistically, they can be referred to the European neo-surrealism, though, as a rule, creativity in all its individual fullness is wider than any, let it be the correct definition.
